iRacing has revealed that it is set to release a companion mobile app to its popular PC sim racing platform, slated for summer 2022.
The iRacing Companion App will be used to view race stats, license progress and fastest lap data, as well as help iRacers keep up to date with all the latest iRacing news. It will also be possible for players to follow their favourite series and add reminders for upcoming races.
The app, developed by Vincent Maestre and the iRacing Web Team, is set to replace the popular ‘iSchedule for iRacing’ mobile application, which will gradually be phased out after an undetermined transitionary period.
iSchedule – also the brainchild of Maestre – originally cost $2.99 for mobile devices, but is now currently free, with the forthcoming Companion App also set to be a no-cost download. iRacing’s recent acquisition of iSchedule has enabled the further development and forthcoming release of the Companion App.
It’s set to be another busy second half of the year for iRacing with their forthcoming move into the publishing sector with a World of Outlaws game, the recently-announced Magny-Cours track and the oft-teased wet weather updates still on the backburner.
The iRacing Companion App will be available from the Google Play and Apple App Stores this summer, requiring an iRacing account to use.
What do you think of iRacing’s new Companion App? Will it help streamline the iRacing experience for players frustrated by its current User Interface? Let us know in the comments below.
