The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N can do the ‘straight-line’ thing, like so many other BEVs. But what sets this electric car apart is a dedicated drift setting, track-developed regenerative braking system, programmable driving modes and even faux gear shifts with matching body lurches and noises.

It may be mostly a gimmick, but someone has to at least try and make electrified performance cars more than a one-trick pony. It transpires the Korean manufacturing giant has managed it first.

The blue tack performance blue hot hatchback has now been confirmed for Forza Horizon 5, making its gaming debut. It is featured as the video thumbnail for the upcoming Let’s ¡GO! presentation by Microsoft and developer Playground Games, set to reveal the contents of the Modern Horizons playlist.

The inclusion of the first electric N follows a deeper involvement with the brand, with the Ioniq 6 saloon, i30 N, Kona N, Veloster N, Elentra N TCR and N Vision 74 concept all recent additions to Horizon. The latter is as recent as the current Retrowave festival playlist.
