Reported today, the iRacing platform is expanding its European road course content with the scanning, licensing and development of four new circuits for their customers to enjoy.

Occasionally criticised for their attention to the oval racing scene, adding dirt and additional speedways recently, this will be welcome news for the service’s road racing fans.

The four tracks in development are:

  • Hockenheim (Germany)
  • Knockhill (Scotland)
  • Hungaroring (Hungary)
  • Red Bull Ring (Austria)

All four of the tracks present very different challenges but three of them will be recognisable from Formula 1. Hockenheim was last seen on the F1 calendar in 2009 but both Hungaroring and Red Bull Ring still exist on 2021 schedule.

Knockhill is a slight outlier – the track is most commonly known as for its club and national championship racing – including BTCC. The British Touring Car Championship is scheduled to have a new game produced by publishers Motorsport Games in 2022, following an announcement in July 2020. There are currently no NGTC BTCC cars in iRacing.

Unfortunately, there are currently no dates for the release of any of these circuits.

At the same time, iRacing also announced that the rallycross layout of Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will be added in Season 2 of 2021.

You can read the full announcement from iRacing on their website.
