Version 1.68 of Gran Turismo Sport has now hit for PS4 and PS5 players, and as expected, it doesn’t add anything major.
But, in some ways it’s also surprising, as “improved connection stability” for the Lobby game mode has been implemented. Recently, updates for GT Sport have been so trivial that the last patch added a new in-game logo, but at least this improves the quality of life.
The lobby mode for GT Sport is extensive – allowing racers to join up for custom events, separate from the ranked Sport mode – and as someone who uses it to race with friends once a week, its performance is generally solid. But, not without the odd hiccup. Recently we’ve noticed more players being kicked from the lobby, so perhaps this update will remedy that somewhat.
Either way, Polyphony Digital is flat out with the development of Gran Turismo 7, so we don’t expect anything major for GT Sport. But when something allegedly improves online stability, count us in.
