As part of Gran Turismo 7‘s 25th anniversary celebrations we’ve been treated to another themed Lap Time Challenge event.

The previous fortnight saw perhaps Gran Turismo’s most famous car – the Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak – in use, while this fortnight treats us to what is one of the franchise’s fastest cars; the Red Bull X2019.

After Gran Turismo 7’s huge v1.26 update, players can claim a special 25th Anniversary edition of Red Bull’s fictional masterpiece by heading to the World Map and entering the ‘Gran Turismo 25th Anniversary’ banner. Here, you will be gifted the Red Bull X2019 25th Anniversary.

The Red Bull X2019 (identical to the 25th Anniversary edition) is a hypothetical concept car which first appeared in GT Sport. Designed in collaboration with Red Bull, the car features a 3.0l naturally-aspirated engine producing 804bhp and weighing just 650kg. It’s fast.

The car is only available to collect for a limited period (until 3rd January 2023), so best claim it now. Alternatively, the standard X2019 is obtainable through achieving all Gold on the S licence tests or can be purchased from Brand Central for 3,000,000 Credits.

The Lap Time Challenge takes place at another piece of DLC from the v1.26 update – Road Atlanta. The American road course is most famous for hosting the Petit Le Mans endurance race, where GT and Prototypes battle it out over ten hours.

The track features several high-speed turns ideally suited to the Red Bull’s mind-boggling amounts of aero grip. But with grass run-offs there’re very little margin for error.

GT7‘s Lap Time Challenge is a time trial mode where you compete against other players to set the fastest time on the leaderboard. However, there’s a caveat: setting a lap within three per cent of the fastest time nets players 2,000,000 Credits.

If you aren’t quite quick enough for that then lapping within five per cent gains you 1,000,000 Credits, while a time inside 10 per cent of the fastest results in a 250,000 Credit payout.

For GT7 newbies, the Sport mode – where you can find the Daily Races and Lap Time Challenge – unlocks after completing Café Menu Book nine.
