This week’s Gran Turismo 7 Lap Time Challenge takes place at the little-used Circuit de Sainte-Croix track. Thankfully, it’s not the gargantuan ‘A’ layout, which totals 5.9 miles, but the 4.4 mile, 14-turn ‘B’ variant.

Set in the fictional French countryside, the track is for all intents and purposes a street circuit, with barriers looming over players on each side. It therefore demands high levels of concentration to get the best lap times – especially as a single wall collision will invalidate your lap.

The designated car is the bonkers looking Lamborghini Lambo V12 VGT. Looking more Cyberpunk 2077 than Gran Turismo 7, the Lambo is the Italian firm’s take on the ‘Vison GT’ formula, where manufacturers flex their creative muscle to pen the boldest designs.

And for a company that created the outlandish Countach, Diablo SVT and LM002, the Lambo V12 VGT is a strong contender for the title of ‘most interesting Lamborghini’.

Although it normally costs 1,000,000 Credits from Brand Central, GT7’s online renting mechanic offers players a chance to test drive the most expensive cars in the game for free, so it’s well worth taking advantage of here to find the Lambo’s limits.

Circuit de Sainte-Croix – B: track guide

Brake for Turn 1 just after the 150m board and short-shift to third gear on exit as you accelerate towards Turn 2. Lift off the throttle through here and stay to the far right of the track as you brake in a straight line for the 90-degree left-hander of Turn 3.

Turns 4 and 5 are a tricky combination, which leads to a medium-speed left-right heading onto Circuit de Sainte-Croix’s impressive bridge. You’ll have to brake and turn at the same time in this section, so feather the brakes and make smooth steering inputs to maximise your lap time.

Flat-out across the bridge, hit the anchors just before the 150m board for another 90-degree left-hander, short-shifting to third halfway through to improve traction, setting yourself up for the very tight, third-gear right-hander afterwards.

Take the next kink at top speed before braking around 200m before the next right-hander, taking the following double left-hander in third gear – staying tight to the left side of the circuit. Flirt between third and fourth gear to find the right balance before taking the final right-hander in third.

Gran Turismo 7’s Lap Time Challenges explained

GT7‘s Lap Time Challenge is a time trial mode where you compete against other players to set the fastest time on the leaderboard. However, there’s a caveat: setting a lap within three per cent of the fastest time nets players 2,000,000 Credits.

If you aren’t quite quick enough, then lapping within five per cent gains you 1,000,000 Credits, while a time inside 10 per cent of the fastest results in a 250,000 Credit payout.
