Goodness me, it’s a Countach in this week’s GT Sport Daily Races

Goodness me, it’s a Countach in this week’s GT Sport Daily Races

First displayed as the Lamborghini LP500 concept car at the 1971 Geneva Motor Show, designer Marcello Gandini had created something that shook the automotive world. The aggressive angles and unique profile left onlookers in shock and awe.

When it reached production in 1974, the car now had a name that befitted its stunning visuals – Countach, a word that translates from Italian to English as ‘goodness’, when used in the context of amazement or admiration.

It also literally translates as ‘plague’, but we’ll gloss over that…

Leading the charge for this week’s GT Sport Daily Races, week commencing 9th August 2021, you’ll get behind the wheel of a 1988 25th Anniversary version of the Countach around a befittingly Italian circuit. But if that isn’t your can of San Pellegrino, there’s plenty more on offer too.

GT Sport Daily Races, 9th August 2021

Race A includes said Lamborghini, around the nondescript Sardegna Road Track C – but don’t worry, Monza makes an appearance later in the playlist. Six laps and Sports Medium tyres, everyone in the same car, that final corner hairpin will be a complete mess.

The short variant of the Red Bull Ring makes a rare appearance for the ranked online races this week, and in even scarcer scenes, it’s raining too. With such a tight and tricky combination, you may expect something slow, like N200s?

Nope, any Gr.4 of your choice. This will be a manic race, we’re going for the assurance of four-wheel-drive this time, and that means the Lamborghini Huracán fir us.

Rounding out the multiplayer action this week is Monza and in any Gr.1 car from your garage. Befitting of a WEC race, this is a little longer than the other races, at 12 laps, and features 8x tyre wear. Using the Racing Medium tyres, a mandatory pitstop is not required, but we suspect you may be visiting the pit lane anyway.
