JDM: Japanese Drift Master is a drift-focused title set for release in 2024. Developed by Polish studio Gaming Factory, the sideways simulator is set on the varied roads around Haikama Lake, providing plenty of authentic Japanese car culture alongside touge and drift racing.
However, a special prologue version of the game has been given a nailed-on release date, providing fans a taste of the action ahead of the full version dropping later.
JDM: Rise of the Scorpion will be a free PC download when it drops on the 8th of August, with players taking the role of rebellious teenager Hatori as he races his way through the Japanese drift scene in a heavily modified Nissan 350Z-clone.
Gaming Factory has remained tight-lipped about licensed content for JDM but has announced a deal to bring some of Subaru’s vehicles to the game, prompting hopes many more iconic Japanese drift brands will make it into the finished product, all featuring advanced customisation.
As it stands, however, players will instantly recognise facsimiles of Toyota AE86s, Nissan 200SXs and Nissan Skylines, among others, with its neat presentation evoking the geography and history of the island nation.
JDM: Rise of the Scorpion will be released on PC via Steam on the 8th of August and is now available to Wishlist alongside JDM: Japanese Drift Master. PlayStation and Xbox versions have been mooted for the future.
