Freightliner’s fifth-generation Cascadia truck is now available to drive in American Truck Simulator

Impressively, developer SCS Software released it in-game concurrent with the real-world truck’s global premiere, with brand owner Daimler Truck North America set to produce the first units in mid-2025.

As ever with modern trucks, the key focus has been on improving fuel economy, with the fifth-gen Cascadia featuring a 1.9% improvement in fuel efficiency over the previous generation thanks to its drag-reducing bodywork.

Improved safety was also a consideration, with new ‘MirrorEye’ digital cameras improving all-around driver visibility. In addition, Freightliner’s proprietary Active Brake Assist 6, Active Lane Assist 2, Side Guard Assist 2 and Attentive Driver Protection driver aids will help give drivers confidence that their truck is looking out for them at all times.

SCS Software worked closely with Freightliner in capturing source material for the new Cascadia, with engine audio samples taken at Daimler’s High Desert Proving Ground in Madras, Oregon alongside reference images.

The Cascadia name is responsible for over one million trucks in North America since 2007, and American Truck Simulator players can now purchase and drive the truck in-game now.
