Sure, most (if not all) are shared with Forza Horizon 5, but for those on Xbox looking for circuit racing action, Forza Motorsport’s next update includes in a bucket-load of new metal.
There might not be a new track – that’s coming later in the year – but a staggering nine new cars will be added to Forza Motorsport in ‘Update 17’, which has landed today, 10th February 2025.
There are also, as ever, new events for both single-player, time attack and multiplayer and some of the latest vehicles are to be unlocked or earned.
Here are the most important elements of this potentially significant game update for Microsoft’s circuit racing title.
Nine new cars
This particular game update is themed around ‘daily racers’. Or, in others words, accessible performance, mostly hot hatchbacks.
Two manufacturers make up the majority of the new additions two: Hyundai and Toyota.
The Korean and Japanese brands, respectively, are some of the last bastions of attainable driving fun, and even recently worked together on a performance car festival in the real-world.
The five new Hyundais
Here, this means lots of models ported from the company’s other racing series, the open-world Forza Horizon 5.
Perhaps most notably, the diminutive GR Yaris rally homologation special plus the GR86 rear-wheel-drive sports car debut. These are alongside the innovative electric Hyundai Ioniq 5 N – a crossover with not only serious straight-line speed, but also drift modes and simulated manual gears – which recently appeared in Gran Turismo 7 and is set for Assetto Corsa EVO.
A surfeit of petrol-powered Hyundai Ns is also present, with the i20, i30 and Elantra models. Then there’s the Toyota Camry TRD and… well, it’s a Camry with a spoiler so… there’s that if you’d like to play a virtual Uber driver.
The three new Toyotas
In terms of racing cars, the Elantra N TCR joins the existing Veloster N TCR. Finally, the 2022 Mazda MX-5 RF (the hardtop variant) joins as the only non-Hyundai or Toyota roster addition.
The cars are listed below, including how to unlock:
Hyundai Elantra N 2022 – Daily Racers Tour Spotlight Car
Hyundai Elantra TCR #98 2021 – Showroom
Hyundai i20 N 2021 – Showroom
Hyundai i30 N 2020 – Daily Racers Tour Spotlight Car
Hyundai Ioniq 5 N 2023 – complete all six series in the Open Class Tour this coming month
Mazda MX-5 RF 2022 – Daily Racers Tour Spotlight Car
Toyota Camry TRD 2023 – Showroom
Toyota GR86 2022 – Showroom
Toyota Yaris GR 2012 – complete the single-player Daily Racers Tour
The Cadillac CT5V Blackwing 2022 is also a Daily Racers Tour Spotlight Car, but isn’t new to the game.
Further events
The aforementioned Daily Racers Tour is a series of single-play campaign races, themed around these latest additions. As ever, it consists of four event buckets, each unlocked one week after the next and each featuring a temporarily discounted Spotlight car.
The event sets are: Modern Hot Hatch, Luxury & Horsepower, RWD Roadsters and Battle of Sedans.
The tuned-car single-player Open Tour also has a fresh set of events, completing all six unlocking the coveted Ioniq 5 N.
As is the standard format change, the same vehicles feature in a new group of featured multiplayer events over the next four weeks too – the Daily Racers Series. The same applies to the Rivals modes, and rounding out the content changes is a bonus round to the Logitech McLaren G Challenge.
Bug fixes and tweaks
Alongside the new metal and updated challenges arrives a suite of game tweaks. There are no major changes this time, although the Rivals mode has seen how it selects your next competitor updated. Quick Resume issues on Xbox consoles are also said to now be resolved.
The update is now live, with the in-game events beginning their rollout on 12th February. The full patch notes and challenge details are below.
