As Forza Horizon 6 goes gold ahead of its imminent launch, Microsoft’s open-world racer is now available to pre-load on PC and Xbox – but you might need to clear some hard drive space first.

In a blog post, which also details the graphics and performance modes for Xbox, Playground Games has confirmed that Forza Horizon 6’s file sizes are gargantuan. On Xbox Series X, you’ll need at least 135GB of space to play Forza Horizon 6 and 130GB on Xbox Series S.

The PC version requires even more storage space: you’ll need 160GB of free hard drive space and a solid-state drive to run the open-world racer. That’s a substantial increase over Forza Horizon 5, which required 103GB on PC and Xbox Series X|S and 116GB on Xbox One at launch.

Presumably, the PlayStation 5 version will have a similar file size requirement when it launches later this year.

Those who have pre-ordered any edition of the game or have an active Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass subscription can start pre-downloading Forza Horizon 6 to prepare for its launch later this month. If you order the physical disc version, the game can also be preloaded by using the Xbox smartphone app by finding Forza Horizon 6 in the store and selecting “Download to Console.”

Early access for Forza Horizon 6 begins on 15th May for those who pre-ordered the Premium Edition, ahead of the general launch on 19th May. A PS5 version is set to launch later this year. Set in an open-world recreation of Japan, the open-world racer will feature over 550 cars at launch.

  1. This is just fine for such game with big map and details. But, check COD BO7 + Warzone hahaha 260GB, this is double the FH6. And recently with a new event it reached close to 300GB. That is a mess.
