Originally thought to be releasing today (14th December 2022), Formula Retro Racing: World Tour in fact won’t be available now until 2023 on all platforms.
The console version of the game was announced a few months ago to be coming today, but in an update from the publisher at CGA Studio and developer Repixel8, it was revealed that it will now release alongside the PC edition which was already expected around Easter time in 2023.
Formula Retro Racing: World Tour will eventually release on PC via Steam, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and the Nintendo Switch. The reason behind the console delay is to make sure that the best product is put forward when released.
“All game elements are now complete, and development is in its final polishing phase,” wrote the team in its update on 21st November. Because of the delay, more testing has been scheduled, and followers of the title have been invited to participate.
One such added feature since the delay announcement is the addition of VR to the title on Steam. As of 6th December, Steam users can give the demo a go for free.
Back in September, we were able to preview the title and give our thoughts on the slice of the game that we were able to play.
Tom had high hopes for the retro arcade-looking platform. We’ve got our fingers crossed that this extra amount of time and testing will really help to bring it home.
