It was a strong end to the week for Nintendo as they unveiled a lot of things to look forward to during Nintendo Direct on Thursday. One of the games we’ve been following since it was announced, Hot Wheels Unleashed, got a few seconds of love during the stream, giving fans a first glimpse of the game on the handheld gaming device.
Now, we’ve known it was coming to the Nintendo Switch since it was unveiled, but all of the artwork and promotional has utilized a much higher resolution than the Switch is capable of producing. Now that we’ve seen it in action for about 10 seconds, we can tell how it will look when it launches 30th September.
In the blink and you’ll miss it moment, you can see two of the track areas as a car races along, and then it cuts to the Track Builder before fading into the next game. It’s not much, but it looked fairly good for a port to the Switch, better than other games might be able to say, at least.
There were also some screenshots released shortly afterward, and I’ve got to say that for a Nintendo Switch game, it looks fantastic, even in comparison to the PC and higher-end consoles. It doesn’t have the same shine that you’ve seen on the other promotional material. The resolution is also not as detailed, but again, for the capabilities of the Switch, it’s pretty good.
Which console will you be getting Hot Wheels Unleashed on? Does this Switch reveal make it a must-buy for on-the-go racing? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section! Hot Wheels Unleashed releases next week, 30th September for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
Update – there is now an official Switch trailer.
