First Hotfix already deployed for 2022 iRacing Season 3

For some iRacing users, the new build release day (7th June 2022) was a bit of a frustrating one, to say the least. In the forums and on social media, there were a few cases of frustration with some aspects of the service not working as intended. Thankfully, a hotfix was developed and dropped already today, and should fix some of the known issues.

A big issue some users faced included a complete server crash issue that would occur in the instance of one driver losing connection at a specific time that would kick the entire field out. The issue was found early and should hopefully be corrected in the patch.

Some pieces of content, like the new Mercedes-AMG GT3 2020 and the new Fuji International Speedway, had a few updates overnight. The Merc had some paint booth fixes while the Japanese venue had some rule updates regarding slowdowns.

Older pieces of content, like the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO, had to have its windshield reinstalled after it disappeared during the build. Also, NASCAR NEXT Gen cars should hopefully no longer fail with the proper Left-Rear ride height on the setup page. The NEXT Gen’s New Damage Model seems to be working fine, however, and that’s good.

While iRacing AI did get an update that will allow users to Generate a Roster again, the new Start Zone is not mentioned in the patch notes, so hopefully that will come in a future patch or hotfix.

UPDATE AS OF 9th June: The UI received a separate update on Thursday morning which fixed the AI Start Zones. I’ve tested this and found it to be true. From the notes:

  • Resolved an issue where the Start Zone value was not becoming disabled when an unsupported track is selected even if the Start Zone value was previously true. Additionally, the Start Zone value was not being properly honored for an AI Single Session or AI Season when selected

My own personal nightmare came from having an AMD Graphics Card with older drivers. Even still, I had to completely uninstall and reinstall the game to get it working properly. Thankfully iRacing did have plenty of resources to get me back up and running, but I’m afraid that I’ll probably have to invest in NVIDIA GPUs if I want to avoid these issues moving forward.

The update states that an issue was fixed for users using AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution when Multi-View-Projection was enabled. I don’t think that pertains to my issues, but it’s nice to see that AMD users like myself are not being forgotten. To address my issues and others with the same, this was tweeted:

The service is back up as of 9:56 a.m. EDT, so get to downloading those updates and I’ll catch you all out there on the virtual track. Are there any other things you hope iRacing can get resolved in the next patch that wasn’t covered today? Let us know in the comments below, or visit the iRacing support site to file a ticket.
