F1 Sim Racing’s 2025 driver and team lineup is brimming with emerging talent and experienced champions.
The headline acts include reining 2023/24 champion Frederik ‘Frede’ Rasmussen, 2022 title-winner Lucas Blakeley and two-time victor Jarno Opmeer.
Rasmussen stays with Oracle Red Bull Sim Racing, a team with which he has been involved (including Toro Rosso) since his series debut in 2018. Blakeley remains with his McLaren Shadow outfit too.
But Opmeer is the biggest move of the off-season, moving from Mercedes-AMG Petronas to join Rasmussen at Red Bull – three titles in one team. This dynamic will be one to watch across the 2025 esports season, and the dynamic duo are supported by venerated sim racing talent Sebastian Job who recently drove a real-world Formula 1 machine.

Another double champion, Brendon Leigh (2017 and 2018) returns driving for the KICK F1 Sim Racing Team – although, the British driver has announced that this will be his final term in the competition.
Red Bull alumni Josh Idowu and Joni Tormala have found berths at the Alpine Sim Racing Team alongside Piotr Stachulec, while Nicolas Longuet, Bari Broumand and John Evans make a formidable Scuderia Ferrari HP Esports Team lineup.
The drivers compete on the EA SPORTS F1 24 game across a 12-race calendar held at three in-person events.
Why are there three drivers per team in F1 Sim Racing?
It is stipulated that while only two drivers per team will participate in each F1 Sim Racing race, each outfit needs three drivers.
It is entirely up to a team if they would like to rotate their drivers throughout the season, or not. A switch may happen if one driver is fatigued, or going through a rough spell of results.
Ultimately, the majority of the $750,000 prize pool is paid out based on the teams’ championship standings. Therefore, an outfit may want to sacrifice a drivers’ crown push and rotate its three drivers based on individual track performance in testing.
