F1 25’s first official trailer dropped today (26th March 2025) and among all the new information and features some players may have missed an important fact: the absence of Xbox One and PlayStation 4 support.
According to EA SPORTS and Codemasters, ‘EA SPORTS F1 25 will be available 30th May, 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, ’ meaning the long-running series has finally made the full-time jump to the ninth-generation of consoles.
EA has previous form regarding its racing game franchises turning away from eighth-gen consoles, with both the Need For Speed and EA SPORTS WRC (née DiRT Rally) series progressing beyond the graphical constraints of outdated equipment (with mixed results, in the case of WRC).
For many, the move away from PS4 and Xbox One is more than timely, with the semiconductor shortage caused by the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic limiting ninth-gen console manufacturing easing in recent years, with hopes high that the visual experience of F1 25 will be a step above F1 24’s.
