Euro Truck Simulator 2’s next destination has been revealed, with SCS Software taking the franchise in a bold new direction.
Iceland is the next country in the Czech studio’s pipeline, and it’s set to feature a landscape unlike any other in the game’s history, thanks to its desolately beautiful landscape, forged over millions of years of volcanic activity.
Iceland is located between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, meaning it’s not unusual to see active lava flows. Its capital city, Reykjavik, is home to around 60% of the island nation’s population and harnesses this volatility to heat its homes and businesses.
Iceland is also located close to the Arctic Circle, which means its landscape is uniquely juxtaposed with sub-zero glaciers and white-hot volcanoes at the same time.
This should make it an interesting landscape to drive through in ETS 2, however, with very few main roads and urban areas, there is a worry that the in-game action could become a little stale. Still, though, early screenshots suggest that Iceland will at least look the part, and will probably remind many gamers of that other great delivery sim, Death Stranding.

Fingers crossed ETS 2’s version of Iceland will be much less weird…
SCS Software has not yet revealed a release date for its Iceland DLC, but it’s available to Wishlist on Steam now.
