EA SPORTS WRC Season 5 Update drops on 4th of June

The fifth season of EA SPORTS WRC’s Rally Pass is set to be unveiled tomorrow (4th June 2024), allowing PC, PlayStation and Xbox players to unlock up to 30 additional in-game car and driver customisation items.

10 of these are freely unlockable by all players, with five available via an EA Play subscription and a further 15 for those with a VIP Rally Pass.

Also coming to Season 5 is a plethora of new Moments (over 60, in fact), with those based on this season’s championship set to arrive around ‘1-2 weeks’ after each rally.

Sadly, however, this doesn’t mean the WRC’s 2024 liveries, teams and drivers are coming to EA SPORTS WRC just yet, with EA and Codemasters’ stating that ‘2024 WRC season Moments in Seasons 3-5 make use of 2023 season cars and drivers in-game’.

It’s a shame, but fingers crossed for Season 6. In the meantime there are several Moments in Season 5 inspired by historic WRC event, which is sure to keep the bobble hat-wearing aficionados happy.

Surprisingly, there are no patch notes available with the onset of Season 5 as everything required was added during the game’s recent v1.8.0 update. This dropped at the same time as WRC’s divisive VR beta mode, which has been beset by performance issues for many players.

In other update news, the game will soon feature EA’s proprietary anti-cheat software on PC only, helping eliminate hackers and those who manipulate the game’s code to achieve ridiculously quick stage times during online play. This will arrive with WRC’s v1.9 update at an undisclosed date.
