After a successful first outing in the Brazilian Stock Cars at Interlagos last week, this week is a new and different challenge for our iRacing specialist Dave Cam. Dave’s Pick N’ Mix Challenge Series moves into week two, and as voted on by the Traxion.GG community, this week Dave will run the same combination as his weekly track guide, Touring Cars at Watkins Glen International.
This season’s challenge is that Dave must gain 395 iRating during the course of 2022 iRacing Season 2. While he can gain iRating with good finishes, he can also lose it with bad results. He’ll be competing in one race per week which the Traxion.GG community can vote on.
Dave can qualify in normal circumstances, but if he opts for one of his two ‘jokers’, which doubles his iRating points earned (or lost), he needs to start from the back. Last week, Dave used one of his two ‘jokers’ and it wound up being a great result. With 46 iRating points gained, it doubled to 92 with the joker. He’s only got 303 iRating points left to go!
This week, Dave won’t be using a joker. He’s qualified seventh in an 18-car field, but he’s got the seventh highest iRating as well, so he’ll need to finish better than that to gain anything. The competition ahead is tough, so he’ll need to stay focused during all 15 minutes of the TCR event. Also, since there are multiple manufacturers in these fields, it’s worth noting that Dave is in the same Elantra from the track guide.
Will Dave be able to take his own slow and methodical lessons from earlier in the week to score a top finish? The elbows will surely be out, and hopefully Dave can keep it pinned to the tarmac and out of the grass. Be sure to stick around to see if Dave can net another positive result!
