The entertainingly chaotic driving game RaceLeague has received its latest major update, adding a ton of fixes alongside a major overhaul of the game’s Cup car.
Overtseer Studios’ RaceLeague was released into Early Access in 2022, boasting a soft-body damage model and realistic physics, all powered by Unity’s proprietary game engine. The game is boosted by the presence of a powerful track editor, allowing players to download new circuits from the in-game repository, as well as add their own.
Through multiple updates – including June 2024’s huge v0.4 build, which added two new cars, replays and an improved tyre model – the game has been fettled into an engaging racing sim, albeit one with a few rough edges.
The Cup car resembles a 992 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, funnily enough
The game’s Porsche-like Cup car is the standout feature of v0.5, however, receiving a complete ground-up rebuild, with new physics, sounds and a refreshed car model. All this adds up to make it the most attractive-looking car in the game, with a stack of colourful new liveries also debuting.
Other improvements include user interface tweaks, improved AI behaviour and the introduction of an anti-stall clutch assist to aid standing starts.
For anyone who likes the sound of RaceLeague, it’s available now on Steam with a 20% discount as part of Steam’s Winter Sale, priced at £15.59 / $19.99 /16,79€.
