Retro rally game fans rejoice. After launching on Steam Early Access last July, Old School Rally is set to launch on PS5, PS4 and Nintendo Switch later this year. It will also leave Early Access, with the full version launching simultaneously on PC.
Developed by indie developer Frozen Lake Games and published by Astrolabe Games, Old School Rally is an arcade rally game featuring retro 32-bit-style graphics reminiscent of early 3D rally classics from the late 1990s. Its blocky cars and low-res textures perfectly capture the look of Colin McRae Rally and Sega Rally.

When it launches later this year, the full release will feature over 30 cars, including obvious knockoffs of iconic rally cars, such as Colin McRae’s Subaru Impreza S5, complete with a blue and yellow livery, as well as over 22 tracks across ten countries.
Several “key feature updates” are promised for the full release, providing “richer, more complete experience.”
Ahead of its release, console players who have yet to play the Early Access version can try Old School Rally in a playable demo out on PS5 and Nintendo Switch. A physical release is also planned.
A release date has yet to be confirmed, but Old School Rally is due to launch on PC and consoles this “holiday season.”
Retro-inspired rally games are seeing a renaissance lately, with Rally Arcade Classics recently launching on PS5 and Nintendo Switch, and Super Woden: Rally Edge due to slide onto PC sometime this year.
