BeamNG’s soft body physics system is well-suited to the sort of fictionalised contemporary vehicles, and recently trucks, fans come to expect of the simulation.
But, what would happen if vintage cars were added?
Well, it seems players are about to find out, as the German outfit has teased just that.
During a light-hearted teaser video, tied in with Halloween, amiable Vehicle Team Lead Jared Samuelson claims to find top secret documents pertaining to the sim title – and within an envelope, finds sketches of what are set to be new cars.
Under the moniker of ‘work in progress’ and ‘ye olde BeamNG’, various different body shapes and styles are teased, all of which are reminiscent of American 1920s and 1930s vehicles.
These include a fastback coupe-style design, perhaps befitting of a hot rod.
Seeing these nearly 100-year-old designs crumple into blocks of metal, virtually, of course, could provide a fresh gameplay mechanic to the platform – especially if the positively ancient suspension and tyre technology is accurately modelled.
We expect nothing less from Beam…
There’s no word yet on when such an update will arrive, although it has only been just over a month since the 0.33 addition for the early access game.
