Assetto Corsa Competition is looking sharp on PS5 and Xbox Series X

Thanks to a new trailer, we can see the upcoming PS5 and Xbox Series X version of Assetto Corsa Competizione in action – and it’s looking spectacular.

Sadly, the trailer for the 4K console version of Kunos KUNOS Simulazioni’s venerated racing simulator is only in 1080p, so is perhaps not a true representation of visual fidelity – but based upon this trailer alone, we’re hard-pressed to spot any difference between this and a top-end PC build.

The proof will be in the gameplay, but for now, the GT3 cars racing at night, in the rain, look as spectacular as ever – except now it’s available to more sim racers than ever before.

The main focus of this latest trailer is the progressive day/night cycle combined with changeable weather conditions, one of the platform’s main unique selling points. That and the glorious sound of a full field of racing cars screaming out of La Source and down the hill to Eau Rouge.

The official game of the GT World Challenge championship is going through a resurgence of late, following a significant physics and UI overall in a version 1.8 update for PC players, most of which will be transferred across to this new console release. A new circuit and at least three news cars have been teased for a 2022 release too.

The current PS4 and Xbox One versions of Assetto Corsa Competizione drive well but run with significantly less visual detail than the PS5 and Xbox Series X footage. These new versions are able to output at 4K at 60fps, but no firm details on the Xbox Series S visuals are known at this time.

Assetto Corsa Competizione releases for the latest console hardware on 24th February 2022 and includes online private lobbies. There is also a free upgrade for existing console owners that includes game save transfer.
