The wait is over. After much teasing about drivable cars in American Truck Simulator, we’ve been given a first glimpse at the game’s upcoming Ford Car Pack, adding four of the U.S. manufacturer’s cars to the game.
Forming part of the game’s embryonic ‘Road Trip’ mode, players will be able to get behind the wheel of the ‘67 Ford Mustang, ‘23 F-150 pickup and the ‘23 Bronco off-roader. The 1998-2012 Crown Victoria, as favoured by many American police forces, will also be part of the Ford Car Pack, intriguingly offering a glimpse of potential new game modes.

Developer SCS Software has indicated multiple engine and trim options are being mulled over currently, indicating that the ATS’s renowned propensity for customisation will carry over into the new Road Trip mode and its future DLC content.
SCS also indicates that there will be more car packs coming in future from other manufacturers, with only one DLC pack required to access Road Trip.
Exploration
“In the past, we’ve shared our ambition to expand the ways players can engage with the game world,” stated SCS. “Road Trip represents a step in that direction. Once introduced, it should allow players to enjoy the vast landscapes of ATS not only from the cab of an 18-wheeler but also from behind the wheel of, say, a powerful pickup or even a sports car,” the statement continued.
Exact details on the mechanics of ATS’s Road Trip mode are yet to be revealed, but many players will be delighted by the prospect of exploring the game’s vast array of DLC maps using nimbler vehicles, perhaps even using off-road vehicles too.

American Truck Simulator’s Ford Car Pack DLC is available to wishlist now on Steam, with a release date yet to be revealed.
