More information about the fourth phase of American Truck Simulator’s California Rework project has been released, with the mammoth task set to be released for free with the game’s v1.52 update.

Fans of SCS Software’s trucking title may have to wait a while, however, as the game has currently only reached v1.50. Regardless, the Czech studio has showcased what virtual truckers can expect at some point in the future.

The Californian cities of Santa Maria and Oxnard come in for special attention this time, both accessible via the US-101 highway, best known as the Pacific Coast Highway.

Santa Maria leans on its Spanish and Native American heritage with its architecture and culture, with the area exploding in popularity thanks to early 20th-century oil well developments. However, today Santa Maria is better known for its farming and wine production, with virtual truckers likely to find plenty of agricultural-based contracts and new a type of farm depot.

Oxnard is a seaside city in Ventura County, which operates as a rail and road transportation hub with its own regional airport providing vital air links. Just like Santa Maria, Oxnard is surrounded by oil fields and is heavily influenced by Latin American culture.

In terms of landmarks, Oxnard’s mirrored glass-covered Topa Financial Plaza will dominate the skyline in-game, with a paper factory depot providing players with plenty of delivery opportunities.
