The KD3 is a 3.2NM direct drive racing game bundle – plus a new swappable formula style wheel and basic wireless wheel have also been confirmed.

  • Gaming accessory giant Turtle Beach launches its second and third-ever sim racing wheels
  • One, the KD3, is an entry-level 3.2Nm direct drive unit
  • Another, the Racer Wireless, is aimed at Fortnite and mobile app players
  • For the more serious, a new formula style wheel is available for its two wheel bases equipped with a quick release

When Turtle Beach released its debut sim racing device, the VelocityOne Race wheel and pedal bundle, the response was a little muted.

The PC and Xbox unit touted a ~7.2Nm direct drive motor and even a built in button box – but enthusiasts didn’t exactly flock to the model.

Now the Californian gaming accessories giant is back, surprisingly expanding its racing range with two new wheel bases and a new wheel add-on.

Turtle Beach VelocityOne Race KD3

The KD3 is an all-new device, designed to slot beneath the existing VelocityOne Race – which somewhat confusingly doesn’t have a numbered moniker.

The manufacturer claims the KD3 features a new type of K:Drive motor delivering up to 3.2Nm of force, compared to plays ~7.2Nm.

Fitting the more budget-friendly theme, the newer device keeps a ‘race management’ display to tweak settings built into the base, but on a noticeably smaller scale.

There are two magnetic gearshift paddles around the rear of the wheel and a suit of road-car aping buttons around the front. A quick release will allow the swapping of wheels.

It comes with a two-pedal non-load-cell set, another key differentiator between it and its older sibling – which comes with three pedals and a load cell brake.

Like all of Turtle Beaches’ racing game wheels so far, it’s compatible with PC and Xbox, and can be adjusted by the Tuner Companionion app for PC and smartphones. A table clamp is included.

First shipments are expected from the 9th September 2025 for $449.99 / £329.99, with pre-orders live now. For those on PC, that is slightly more than Moza’s R5 bundle, and with less torque.

Turtle Beach VelocityOne F-RX Formula Wheel

It’s been  18 months since the first VelcoityOne wheel base went on sale, and now its first optional steering wheel has been announced – at last, the quick release system can be used.

Instead of the round wheel included, the F-RX is in a traditional formula, or open-wheeler, style.

It features 10 mechanical switches, RGB lighting, a strip of LED rev lights, five rotatary dials and magnetic gearshift paddles. There are also two clutch paddles, bringing the total up to four.

Turtle Beach promises ‘premium’ materials on top of an aluminium chassis. It joins the VelocityOne Multi-Shift in the optional ecosystem.

It’s priced at $249.99 / £189.99, and like the KD3 wheel base, starts shipping on 9th September 2025, which it is also compatible with.

Turtle Beach Racer Wireless Racing Wheel

Finally, for the less serious sim racers, but those just starting out on their video game driving journey, the American company is pitching the Racer Wireless Racing Wheel.

Accompanied by promotional images of people resting it on their lap while sitting on a sofa, it omits force feedback and even pedals. It uses Bluetooth to connect to a PC, Xbox or Android phone, and consequently must be charged before use – battery life is a stated 30 hours.

It is also said to feature a specific ‘controller mode’ for use with Rocket Racing – the driving title within Fortnite.

It’s priced at $179.99 / £139,99 and also releases on 9th September – although at that price, you’re close to more complete devices such as the Thrustmaster T128 or the ancient, but still produced, Logitech G29, particularly in a sale or used.
