Between April and May 2025, qualifying will open within Gran Turismo 7 to help determine the select few drivers to compete in the Gran Turismo World Series.

The yearly competition sees the very best drivers race for two crowns at prestigious in-person live shows – the team-based Manufacturers Cup and the solo Nations Cup.

For now, only the number and rounds and dates have been announced – with the Manufacturers competition kicking things off with its first qualifying races on Wednesday 2nd April and qualifying to end on Saturday 10th May with the sixth Nations Cup race.

All of these races are open to all to compete, you must simply register and enter at set times on the specific dates – think of these as a Gran Turismo style of special event, with drivers placed into splits at the time based on their prior performances.

In-game credits are also expected to be paid out for taking part, and in past seasons, the car track and race length combinations are among the best in Gran Turismo 7. Generally, there are longer or involve greater strategy than most Sport Mode Daily Races.

In-person event calendar to be announced next month

The number of LAN-based finals with the final roster of qualified drivers is unknown, as are the locations. Gran Turismo developer Polyphony Digital has confirmed that detailed selection criteria and the live event schedule will be announced in March.

Last season, the World Series held live events from Montreal, Prague and Tokyo with the World Finals being held in Amsterdam.

The Toyota Gazoo Racing GT Cup was won by Jose Serrano, the Manufacturers Cup by Lexus (thanks to drivers Harald Walsen, Coque López, Kanata Kawakami and Igor Fraga) and the Nations Cup by Japan’s Takuma Miyazono.

There have been some changes to the game structure already implemented – namely Mexico moving from the ‘Central & South America’ region to ‘North America’, a greater emphasis on the Driver Rating (DR) score for completing championship events compared to Daily Races and an increased DR maximum value.
