Sometimes, the best-laid plans come to nothing, and in motorsport, that can lead to complete cars rendered useless. Dead projects, never to see active competition. But, thanks to racing video games and sim racing, a few of these abandoned vehicles live on, virtually.

Here is the story of seven unique cars that should and could have been amazing, but for one reason or another, were never allowed to realise their potential. And also, here are the games and sims you can try them for yourself in!

Games covered: RaceRoom, Gran Turismo 4, Gran Turismo 7, Project CARS 2, Sebastien Loeb Rally Evo, rFactor 2 and EA SPORTS WRC.
