There will soon be a third entry into GT Omega’s sim racing wheel stand range, when the new DD-X releases next week.
A wheel stand is a chassis that steering wheel and pedal gaming peripherals can be mounted to – in lieu of a desk. They can be useful for those without the space or budget for a full cockpit.
Sitting above the ‘Classic’ and ‘Apex’ models, the new DD-X is the Scottish manufacturer’s pinnacle stand.
GT Omega claims that it can withstand wheel bases that output up to 21Nm of peak torque. Something like the entry-level Classic, for example, is primarily designed for the likes of a Logitech G29/G293 or Thrustmaster T128/T248/T300.
The DD-X, however, is being demonstrated with the much more potent Moza Racing R21.
The Y-frame design incorporates an angled pedal plate and height adjustment settings. The chair link allows for compatibility with existing office or gaming chairs and a gear shifter mount is included.
The option of upgrading the DD-X will also be possible, with a matching rear seat frame that can turn it into a full cockpit at a later date.
It will be available from 5th June for $199.95/£159.95.
