BMW Sim M2 CS Racing Cup returns on rFactor 2

rFactor 2 and BMW Motorsport have confirmed that their sim racing esports competition will return for another season of six races. They’ve lined up a €5,100 prize pool (€850 per race) to be split across the top three drivers. It’s open to everyone so now’s a great time to check out whether you think you’ve got the potential to win.

How to qualify

Each of the six races has its own qualification period – meaning that it’s not a traditional championship with guaranteed entries, you’ll have to qualify each time. This is great if you missed out for the initial intake but might mean a little bit more work!

The qualification sessions are 2-hours long, with one session per day, for the three days approximately a week and a half the race itself. The top 30 cumulative timed drivers will be invited to the race.

• 11th – 13th March 2021 – Qualification for Round 2
• 25th – 27th March 2021 – Qualification for Round 3
• 8th – 10th April 2021 – Qualification for Round 4
• 22nd – 24th April 2021 – Qualification for Round 5
• 6th – 8th May 2021 – Qualification for Round 6

Race schedule

The series takes place at the same track as the rFactor 2 GT Pro competition, ahead of the qualification for GT Pro competitors. This should help guarantee additional exposure and viewership for the series.

The races are 20 minutes long but there’s also a practice session and qualification session as part of the schedule. The broadcast will start at 19:20 CET (18:20 UTC/ 13:20 ET) so will likely miss the qualifying sessions.

• 22nd March 2021 – Round 2 – Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps
• 5th April 2021 – Round 3 – Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit
• 19th April 2021 – Round 4 – Nürburgring Grand Prix Circuit (no chicane)
• 3rd May 2021 – Round 5 – Sebring International Raceway
• 17th May 2021 -Round 6 – Indianapolis Grand Prix

How to compete

• Firstly, you need a copy of rFactor 2 – you can grab one from Steam.
• Then you’ll need to own/purchase the BMW M2 CS Racing.
• Head over to the competition system inside the rFactor 2 platform and register for the BMW M2 competition event – you will need to wait until 15 minutes before the start of the event and then you’ll be placed in the queue ready for launch.
