Here’s how the Festival Playlist works in Forza Horizon 5

Each month, we at Traxion.GG post the Forza Horizon 4 Festival Playlist breakdown, where a menu of in-game events is updated and collectable cars are included. This will change for the upcoming Forza Horizon 5.

In essence, the Festival Playlist will carry on with the same cycle of new events, unlockables and vehicles over a four-week period. Then, most likely, during the Forza Monthly streams on a regular basis, a new Playlist will be exposed.

However, in FH5, the menu design has been freshened up, with many bright colours befitting the new game’s theme. Beneath the skin, how you unlock rewards has changed too.

New points-based system

Previously, as you worked through the challenges, you would also unlock additional customisation items, passes or vehicles by completing a certain percentage. For example, 50 per cent completion netted you a new car.

Now, the is points-based. In the example shown during Forza Horizon 5: Let’s ¡Go! – Episode 9, you receive a number of points for each challenge and then there are bonus prizes for hitting certain points levels.

The bonuses were Honda Civic ’84 and Radical RXC for 22 and 42 points respectively. The entire Series reward is a Mercedes-AMG One for 120 points. A regular seasonal challenge will reward you with two to three points and a weekly challenge five points. The points, by the way, are entitled ‘Foza Points’, or FP for short.

With the percentage-based system, sometimes it was difficult to know how far away you were from achieving the extra items. Now, this seems far more obvious.

The scarcity ratings for vehicles such as Epic, Common and Legendary return. The first in-game Festival Playlist season, summer, will arrive on 11th November 2021.

The DMC DeLorean returns

Last seen in Forza Motorsport 4, the DMC DeLorean (sometimes known as its internal codename, the DMC-12) will return for Forza Horizon 5.

To unlock the famed Hollywood star, it’s in the first month’s Summer Festival Playlist. So, not part of the game’s initial roster per se, but available to unlock within the first four weeks for free by simply completing challenges. Great Scott! (sorry-not-sorry)

Free monthly content

Throughout Forza Horizon 4’s lifespan, when the Festival Playlist updates each month, there were new vehicles for the game too – right up until Series 37 in June 2021.

Sometimes it would be one new car, sometimes three, but either way the collection grew.

This has now been confirmed as carrying on for Forza Horizon 5 too – rest assured we will be updating you each month with the latest content drops.

The curious case of the Aston Martin Valhalla

It has also been revealed that the Aston Maritn Valhalla will be in Forza Horizon 5. The car is also coming to Rocket League and features within the new James Bond film, No Time to Die.

Clever timing with the news of its inclusion there, Microsoft. Bravo.

Forza Horizon 5 Aston Martin Valhalla

The strange thing about this car is that it will never reach production in this form. Since its initial reveal, the filming of the Bond movie and the development of Forza Horizon 5, Aston Martin has new owners. They’ve changed the styling of the car and inserted a Mercedes-AMG derived hybrid powertrain.

That means FH5 is out of date already, but at the same time, the original design is preserved in-game in perpetuity. Until the game is delisted from digital stores, that is…

That’s it for the latest Forza Horizon 5 news blast, we’ll have more as we approach the 9th November release date.
