Slammed Datsun Sunny pickup truck teased for Tokyo Xtreme Racer
A new car has been teased for Tokyo Xtreme Racer, with the Datsun Sunny Truck set to appear thanks to a collaboration with diecast model maker MINI GT.

It looks like Tokyo Xtreme Racer fans can look forward to driving new cars in the arcade racing reboot soon.
Developed by Genki, the game has earned strong critical reviews on PC and PlayStation 5, thanks mainly to its retro-inspired gameplay and Unreal Engine 5.4 visuals. A big part of its success also comes from TXR’s extensive lineup of JDM cars, which players can modify and customise with a legion of branded parts.
However, the game’s community has been clamouring for new content, and it seems like the Japanese developer is poised to deliver just that, owing to a collaboration with diecast model car manufacturer MINI GT.
Although the partnership was initially revealed in May 2026, Genki showcased three MINI GT-liveried cars only last week: the Honda Civic Type R (FL5) 2022, Toyota Supra RZ (JZA80) 1997, and Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec II (BRN34). This wasn’t a huge announcement per se, as all three cars already appear in TXR (minus the MINI GT paint schemes, obviously).
However, yesterday (23rd September, 2026), an all-new car was showcased as part of the game’s MINI GT collaboration, offering something different to the aforementioned trio. Very different.
The Datsun Sunny Truck MINI GT RS-02X “Kagami” is a special one-off show car developed between MINI GT and custom design specialists VIMADNESS Studio.
The car is a highly modified version of a humdrum ‘70s Datsun Sunny pickup truck, featuring huge flared wheel arches, a slammed stance and presumably a rather tasty motor under the bonnet.
The Datsun Sunny Truck last appeared in Tokyo Xtreme Racer Drift 2 (Kaido Racer 2), so its rumoured return to the series will be greeted favourably by series veterans. I mean, it looks incredible, so who wouldn’t want to drive it in-game?
Interestingly, a similar collaboration has resulted in a VIMADNESS-designed 1/64 Hyundai Ioniq 5N GT RS MINI GT model and a life-size show car replica, but whether this will also appear in TXR remains to be seen.
