The 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback is coming to American Truck Simulator as part of the Ford Car Pack DLC, and developer SCS Software has revealed new gameplay footage to whet players’ appetites.

The classic Mustang model attained legendary status thanks to Steve McQueen, who drove the 1968 version of the car in the Hollywood hit Bullitt. When not chasing bad guys around San Francisco, the car retained an aggressive presence, with muscular bodywork enveloping its 390 cubic-inch big-block V8 engine.

The Czech studio appears to have rendered the car in exacting detail, and while its engine audio could do with some work, the Mustang does sound more realistic than ATS’s previously previewed Ford F-150 pickup (somewhat overshadowed by the overpowering indicator sound, however).

While the car is still a work-in-progress, it’s heartening to see it driving and looking so detailed in-game, although a release date for it and its Ford Car Pack DLC brethren – the F-150, ‘23 Bronco, ‘98 Crown Victoria and ‘12 Crown Victoria – has yet to be revealed.

The Ford DLC will also be joined by the RAM & Dodge Car Pack, with more car manufacturers expected to join the game’s special ‘Road Trip’ mode in future.
