Assetto Corsa Rally to support “some kind of club mode”

The asynchronous multiplayer mode would follow the recently add on-stage synchronous mode. Don’t expect it soon, but “in the future”.

Assetto Corsa Rally to support “some kind of club mode”

A highly requested feature looks set to be on the way to Assetto Corsa Rally, as a ‘clubs’ mode has been discussed by Games Director Irvin Zonca during a community Q&A session.

Last month’s Version 0.5 early access update for the rally simulation included the ‘first phase’ of online multiplayer. The synchronous mode sees drivers hit the stage at the same time through a lobby browser, with additional functionality expected in subsequent updates.

However, Zonca, when asked about an asynchronous ‘clubs’ mode, sounded positive that something akin to that seen in WRC Generations, DiRT Rally and EA SPORTS WRC would happen.

“It’s a topic that has been discussed many times with the team from the very initial game design phases,” he explained, before confirming:

“Internally, we are building our own online infrastructure so that we can support some form of club mode in the future.

“So it’s definitely a feature we’d like to have. I cannot say when it will be ready, but this is something we want and we agree that it’s key for giving the players the best way to enjoy the competition, even in this kind of asynchronous mode.”

In the aforementioned rally titles by different studios, events can take place over a number of days, with online leaderboards tracking progress. Players can participate in a rally, within a time frame, whenever suits them.

VR aim before the end of 2026

Alongside something akin to ‘clubs’, Zonca provided a brief update on virtual reality development, something long confirmed for inclusion.

“We are aiming to release the [VR] feature in 2026, I think [at the] end of the year,” he discussed.

“As I was saying, I think in a previous Q & A, we are focusing on steps, building the game block by block. Now that many blocks are coming along nicely, we are, let’s say, accelerating the work on the VR.

Further liveries

Alongside updates on the VR development, a new car teaser, confirmation of throttle and tyre model changes and a clubs-style multiplayer mode, Zonca discussed liveries.

More official liveries for existing cars are to be expected at some point, plus an “easier” way of importing community-created designs.

“We are also working on a way to make it easier for the users to integrate user-created liveries into the game,” the project lead explained.

“I think that we will provide players with two kinds of things here. Official liveries made by us, when it is possible, and also a more streamlined and easier way to collect liveries inside a folder, or whatever, to see them quickly in the game.”
