Rennsport R1 Spring '26: Porsche Coanda and Verstappen Sim Racing trade wins in Round 3

It’s the matchup we’ve all been waiting for, Porsche Coanda and Verstappen Sim Racing against each other in Rennsport R1 for the first time this season.

The former came off the back of disqualification from both races in the previous round for track limits violations, and VSR became the new championship leaders as a result.

Charlie Collins continued his terrific form into the first race, taking pole position and an eventual win by nearly four seconds at Sebring. His teammate, Josh Rogers, spent the race stuck in third, and apart from one small attempt at a pass into Sunset Bend, seemed happy to follow the Verstappen cars home and make sure of a podium.

With TC Esports also in their group, the other six teams had a big chance for points in the other races. It was BS+ Competition who would make best use of that, firstly by locking out the front row in qualifying, before Caique Oliveira would lead them home in a one-two.

After an uneventful race, Moritz Lohner injected the wrong kind of drama into the final stages for MOUZ, spinning through Collier and dropping down the field, reducing their points gap over Rennsport’s first and third community teams. But while Sebring was comparatively lacking in action, Monza, without the first chicane, would certainly make up for it.

Collins took yet another pole, but lost it straight away on the first lap to Kevin Siggy due to the long run to the first braking zone. Rogers also slipped through before Collins fought hard with Enzo Bonito, resigning them both to a third-place finish at best.

Siggy escaped the opening lap already out of slipstream range, which could’ve given him an easy win, but Rogers slowly caught him and finally had the chance to pass on the last lap. Steaming into the second chicane, around 20kph faster than usual due to the draft, Rogers missed his braking point in an exceedingly rare error, allowing Siggy to go on and take the victory, and leaving honours even between the two teams in their first matchup of the season.

Group B had a familiar look to it in race two, as this time Robbie Stapleford took pole for BS+, and early on Oliveira joined him to take another one-two, moving them up to second in the points standings. Behind, MOUZ would have more trouble, as both Lohner and Max Benecke were caught in lap one incidents.

Benecke was the only one to recover some of the positions lost, but he wouldn’t even get into the top half of the field, leaving one of the favourites for the season in a precarious position to even qualify for the finals in the final round of the regular season.

The Monza races were by far the best of this R1 season so far, and it’s set up a nail-biting finale for three teams hoping to secure the final place in the Rennsport R1 Finals this season.
