The two titans at the top of sim racing took maximum points tonight in the second round of Rennsport R1’s regular Spring season. As is fitting this week, the series used various versions of Le Mans, including one race per group without the Mulsanne chicanes.
For the first races, though, the normal layout would be used, and normal service would resume for Porsche Coanda as it locked out the front row, Charlie Collins the better of the teammates this time around. They would control the race and finish one-two, with Josh Rogers marking his season debut with a win.
They were planted in a group with TC Esports for this round, second in the points standings at the start of the night, but on lap two, Jack Keithley went for a spin despite a good start, dropping him down the field as TCE lost ground. Third place in the standings, and ready to pass them, was Verstappen Sim Racing in Group B.
They locked out the front row too, with Kevin Siggy taking pole, but he forgot to turn off traction control, a tactic used to ensure a better launch from a standing start, allowing Enzo Bonito to pass him and take the win, putting them into second in the standings.
Collins again won the battle of the teammates in qualifying, beating Rogers for the second session in a row, but this time he would go on to win. Behind him, the battle of the season or perhaps of R1 in its history took place, as Robbie Stapleford and Nico Nunninghoff went side by side for the entire Porsche curves section.
