Back in the states for week six, Dave Cam is back as well with yet another superb track guide. For 2022 iRacing Season 1 Week 6, the Global Mazda MX-5 Fanatec Cup official series heads to the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval. This is a fairly new road racing circuit in respect to many of the other venues on the calendar.
Charlotte Motor Speedway itself opened in 1960 as a 1.5-mile NASCAR Stock Car oval track. The track has hosted multiple events over the course of the last 60-plus years. Just recently in 2018, Speedway Motorsports, Inc. reconfigured the infield and created the Charlotte Roval. The road-oval is a 2.280-mile (3.669-kilometer) course with 17 corners. The majority of the oval is used, and includes an infield entrance before NASCAR Turn 1, an exit in Turn 2, a “bus stop” on the backstretch and a frontstretch chicane just before the start-finish line.
While it might seem pretty straight forward, as Dave says, it is much, much trickier track than people give it credit for. Who are we to question the man who’s won two MX5 races in-a-row on our channel? As always, Dave knows the tips, the tricks, the quirks and the knowledge you’ll need to succeed. The slow, methodical approach gets it done, so go ahead and grab your notebook. Class is now in session.
Be sure you check out Dave’s other track guides on the site and our YouTube channel. Anyone who picks up their lap time is required to like this video, by the way. Also, if you subscribe and ring the bell for notifications, you’ll get Dave’s next video delivered the moment it goes live, as well as all of our other racing game content!
