Your guide to Gran Turismo 7’s Daily Races, w/c 2nd May: Boxing match

The playlist for this week’s Gran Turismo 7 ranked online races, within the Sport Mode, highlight some of the new cars recently added in the version 1.13 update.

Specifically, Race A, which sees the new Subaru BRZ go up against the GR86 brethren. For Race B, if you purchased the new GT300 race-bred BRZ, you can also put it to good use.

Both cars use a unique horizontally-opposed boxer engine layout, and in the case of the Gr.3 model, a giant ‘Proud of BOXER’ insignia is part of its livery. It’s just a shame that in this Balance of Performance formula week, there’s no flat-four action in Race C…

The boxing match that lends itself to the title of this article, you can either go for the red corner (Toyota) or the blue corner (Subaru).

Either way, you will have an equal performance from a front-engine rear-wheel driver sports car, using elements from the Subaru Global Platform underneath.

For a car not known for its breakneck speed, but rather poise, the track choice is a little odd. You may be thinking Brands Hatch or Tskubua, but no – full-length Suzuka awaits, which means this race at five laps lasts 15 minutes.

Recommended car: Subaru BRZ S ’21 or Toyota GR86 RZ ’21 (Brand Central, 33,500 credits, 32,670 Credits or free rental)

RACE B

The pace takes a dramatic setup up for the second race. Also 15-minutes in length, the Autódromo José Carlos Pace aka Interlagos, is the venue for six laps in any Gr.3 of your choice.

Thanks to the recent game update, this also means that you don’t have to own the recommended vehicle either, as it will be available for a free race loan. Handy.

There isn’t one clear quickest car in this race either, which shows that the BoP is working well at this venue.

You could opt for the Volkswagen Beetle Gr.3, Subaru WRX Gr.3, Ford Mustang Gr.3 or Hyundai Genesis Gr.3 and still snag a win. But, when there’s an option of a rotary engine, we’ll always take it. A Mazda RX_VISION GT3 CONCEPT for us, please.

It will also handily deafen the opposition, too.

Recommended car: Mazda RX_VISION GT3 CONCEPT (Brand Central, 450,000 credits or free rental)

RACE C

The longer, strategy-focussed, race is at the Fuji International Speedway this week. This ties into the car class, Gr.2, which is largely made up of SUPER GT-competing machinery.

The real-world event at the same venue takes place this week too on Tuesday and Wednesday, a traditional Golden Week fixture.

You can use the Racing: Soft tyre, but the Racing: Medium compound it required at some point during the race.

The 2016-specification Nissan is dominant here, under the view of Mount Fuji. That’s the right car if you’d like to win.

But… you could also rent the McLaren F1 GTR, finish last and have more fun. The choice is yours.

Recommended car: Nissan GT-R NISMO GT500 ’16 (Brand Central, 800,000 credits or free rental)
