KT Racing’s WRC Generations is out now for the Nintendo Switch… again!
Yes, you read that correctly. In a rather strange set of circumstances, the French developer’s final officially licenced WRC game is available today (23rd of December 2022), more than three weeks after its initial physical Switch release on the 1st of December.
No official reason has been given for the delay. What we do know, however, is that KT Racing was under pressure to release WRC Generations before its WRC licence rights expired on the 1st of January, 2023.
The WRC videogame baton will then be passed to EA SPORTS, as the publishing/developing giant aims to deliver another FIA World Championship gaming tie-in alongside its next Formula 1 game in 2023.
The Switch release will feature League mode, a matchmaking style multiplayer system enabling players to compete against similarly skilled opponents in daily and weekly challenges. There will also be a livery catalogue; allowing players to download and share their stickers and paint schemes online.
The Switch version of WRC Generations will not enjoy the cross-platform functionalities of the PlayStation, Xbox and PC versions, however, so Nintendo players will instead feature on Switch-only leaderboards in-game.
For European users, WRC Generations is now available from the Nintendo eShop today, priced at £44.99/€49,99.
North American players will have to wait until 1 am PST/4 am EST on the 26th of December to activate WRC Generations, however, with its price yet to be decided.
