The official video games for the FIA World Rally Championship will once again be created by Nacon and Kylotonn, following a fresh licencing agreement that extends to 2032.

Following the news that EA and Codemasters would no longer be at the helm, the French outfit will take back control as of today (26th May 2025) with a view to creating a new WRC game in 2027.

It marks a return to the series following a seven-game spell that ran between 2015 and 2022.

“We are thrilled to renew our collaboration with WRC Promoter. This iconic license provides an exceptional playground to build a highly refined driving experience that lives up to the expectations of rally fans,” said Alain Falc, CEO of NACON.

During KT Racing’s creation of WRC 10, it was announced that British studio Codemasters had secured the rights to the WRC games in a deal that began in 2023.

Before it had finished its first, the company was purchased by Electronic Arts for $1.2 billion. The first and last Codemasters and EA WRC game was released towards the end of 2023, and earlier this month, the development team was disbanded.

KT Racing is owned by Nacon after a sale in 2018. Traxion understands that the new games could be built using a different game engine than prior KT-created titles, touted as “an entirely fresh vision.”

“We look forward to breaking new ground together in this collaboration, to truly turn the WRC games into epic adventures and offer gaming experiences beyond rally as we know it today,” said the FIA World Rally Championship’s Chief Marketing Officer, Arne Dirks.

2027 will see a significant change for the real-world WRC competition, with fresh rules introducing new cars to the series – something that is still the cause of much contention.
