If the hype for the Le Mans Virtual Series wasn’t already enough, its sister series, the Le Mans Virtual Cup, also gets underway this Friday, live on Traxion.GG’s YouTube channel.
The Le Mans Virtual Cup (LMVC) is an esports series open to anyone with a copy of rFactor 2 and an inkling for some competitive and well-organised endurance racing.
Using the sim’s new-for-2022 Competition System, competitors are vying for two spots alongside the likes of Max Verstappen, James Baldwin and some of the most famous racing teams on the planet as part of the 2023 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual.
Grids are decided by pre-event qualifying, with the top split set to feature 30 of the fastest virtual sportscar drivers in the world. All participants will be using identical Ligier JS P320 LMP3 cars across the season, with 45-minute races punctuated by one mandatory pit stop.
The points standings after three LMVC events will set the grid for a fourth, decisive, round at Le Mans, where our 2022 LMVC winners will be crowned. Last season’s prize-winners, Luca D’Amelio and Christopher Högfeldt teamed up with Juan Pablo and Sebastian Montoya at the 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual in the Le Mans Virtual Series (LMVS) Guest Car.
No doubt they heard some rather interesting stories from the former Formula 1 and IndyCar driver!
LMVC races will be conducted as part of the LMVS qualifying broadcast, with Round 1 set to take place this Friday 16th September from 18:00 BST, live on the Traxion.GG YouTube channel. Racing gets underway at 18:10 BST, with LMVS qualifying following from 19:10 BST.
