The big day is finally here!
The biggest single event in racing esports kicks off today and it’s set to be the most intriguing race yet, thanks to a star-studded line-up of professional drivers (both real-world and esports) competing for both LMP and GTE Le Mans Virtual Series championships.
Yes, it’s time for the 2023 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual, live on Traxion.GG.
Team Redline is gunning for glory across both classes, with its #1 LMP car driven by GB3 Champion and Aston Marin Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year Luke Browning, Jeffrey Rietveld and double Formula 1 World Champion Max Verstappen leading the #4 Franco Colapinto, Bent Viscaal and Jesper N. Pedersen-driven Floyd Vanwall-Burst entry by just 18 points.
In GTE, BMW Team Redline again holds the lead, this time from Oracle Red Bull Racing by 24.5 points. The #71 Redline entry of Rudy van Buren, Lorenzo Colombo, Kevin Siggy and Enzo Bonito are hoping to emulate last season’s dramatic victory when van Buren experienced an equipment failure.
Our two Le Mans Virtual Cup winners, Shaun Arnold and Zoltán Várkonyi will also be on the grid, sharing a car with father and son racing duo Andy and Sebastian Priaulx. The Guernseymen will be eager to apply their real-world racing knowledge to esports, with Andy boasting three WTCC titles and Seb a full-blown FIA WEC competitor.
The grid is also home to British GT champion Sandy Mitchell, FIA F2 champion Felipe Drugovich and FIA F3 champion Victor Martins. We also can’t fail to mention esports superstars like James Baldwin, Josh Rogers and popular YouTuber and Praga Cup UK champion Jimmy Broadbent too.
And let’s not forget some of motorsport’s most prestigious teams and manufacturers appearing on the grid, with Peugeot, Porsche, Vanwall, Pescarolo, Alpine, Brabham, BMW, Ferrari, Williams, Red Bull Racing, Prodrive and AMG-Mercedes all supporting entries.
2023 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual Qualifying Results
In the newly-revamped Hyperpole qualifying session, it was Joshua Rogers who put the #20 Porsche Coanda in pole position for the 2023 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual, with Erhan Jajovski snatching GTE pole for R8G Esports.
