More Tokyo Xtreme Racer tuning partners, including TRD and Mugen, announced, as Lexus LFA and Honda NSX Type S teased

Tokyo Xtreme Racer is only a day away from its v1.0 release, but the announcements keep coming, with developer Genki revealing several high-profile tuning partners as well as two new cars.

TRD, Mugen, Junction Produce and Kenstyle are just some of the brands signed up to appear in Genki’s arcade racing reboot, with TRD and Mugen providing a significant boost to the game’s credibility.

Traditionally known as Toyota and Honda’s in-house tuning specialists, respectively, meaning officially branded TRD and Mugen aero parts will be made available within TXR to allow a whole host of aesthetic modifications.

TXR will allow players to extensively tune and modify their cars to their tastes, with Genki including an impressively varied and desirable JDM-focused car roster.

However, in the game’s latest – and possibly final – trailer, both the Honda NSX (NC1) and Lexus LFA are previewed, something we already knew thanks to an unfortunate leak by TXR’s official Bilibili account earlier this month.

The NSX (NC1) is the Type S model, of which only 350 were ever produced, and all in 2022. The Type S looks more aggressive compared to the standard NSX and also produces more power – 602 bhp.

The LFA needs little introduction, however, given it’s one of the most spectacular road cars produced this century. Its high-revving V10 engine is its party piece, with its striking looks and obscene performance levels making it desirable enough to attain more than £1 million at auction.

Despite the leak, the hype surrounding the new TXR game has been tangible, with the game enjoying a largely positive Early Access period. As a result, hopes are high among the community that a console release will arrive at some point in the future, complementing tomorrow’s PC unveiling.
