Developer/publisher Genki has dropped a huge hint regarding the car line-up of its upcoming racing game reboot Tokyo Xtreme Racer.

The Japanese studio released a trailer showing off an R34 Nissan Skyline GT-R V⋅spec II with licence plates adorned with the game’s logo, before fading to reveal a silhouette of another JDM icon, the fourth-generation Toyota Supra.

Previous TXR games (which have also been known as Shutokō Battle or Kaido Racer in various territories) were inspired by the real-world underground racing scene on the roads between Japan’s capital city, Tokyo, and Yokohama, known more famously as the ‘Mid Night Club’.

Although very little is known about the next TXR game, which last appeared on the Sega Dreamcast some 17 years ago, it’s thought players will be able to drive, drift and race classic JDM cars on the Tokyo Expressway, with car customisation at the heart of its appeal.
