As Tokyo Xtreme Racer closes in on a Version 1.0 release on PC further cars are being added to the roster, and today’s (29th August) unveil is a significant one. Following a teaser, Honda has been confirmed.
The Japanese brand had been conspicuous only in its absence until this date, despite fellow marques such as Subaru, Toyota and Nissan all present.
The addition has been marked by formal confirmation of the Honda NSX Type S Zero (NA2), and the teaser of the Honda Civic Type R (EK9).
The former is one of the more extreme first-generation sports cars, sitting below the ultimate Type R models. It uses the 3.2-litre V6 engine, hence the ‘NA2’ model code, an upgrade on the initial 3.0-litre unit, paired with weight-saving measures, such as less sound deadening and a different clutch.
It’s topped off by a dream list of third-party suppliers, from BBS wheels to Recardo seats and a MOMO steering wheel.

Civic Type R origin story
At the end of the NSX launch video is a now-traditional darkened teaser, and we think this is the first-generation Honda Civic Type R.
The EK9 model kick-started the Type R moniker for hatchbacks, although it came after the original NSX Type R and Integra Type R. It was powered by a fizzy 1.6-litre engine that would rev to 8,400rpm.

Through its lifecycle, there was a mild update, with revised rear lights, standard ABS and a tweak to the front bumper.
Tokyo Xtreme Racer is currently in early access and only on PC – much to the chagrin of many franchise fans – and expected to receive a significant update in September to exit the programme.

These two Hondas follow recent roster additions, such as the Toyota GR Yaris, latest generation Nissan Z and Lexus LC500. Traxion has a full list of every car confirmed so far.
