The 2022 Formula 1 season is coming to Rocket League 4th May

It was announced on Thursday (28th April) that Formula 1 and Psyonix will be teaming up once again for another collaboration.

Similarly to last season, the cars and teams of the 2022 Formula 1 season will be displayed in our favorite soc-car game, Rocket League, starting 4th May. The 2022 Formula 1 Fan Pass releases with the new 2022 cars, along with liveries for five of the ten teams that are competing in the series this season.

Red Bull, Ferrari, AlphaTauri, Alfa Romeo and McLaren are all included in the initial drop next week. The other five teams (Alpine, Aston Martin, Haas, Mercedes and Williams), along with other F1-specific items, will launch later in the year.

The pack will be available from 4th May to 10th May, but will likely return for future F1 activations, probably when the rest of the content drops later in the year.

Similarly, NASCAR just finished up their activation for Talladega Superspeedway race weekend, as that NASCAR Fan Pack was removed from the story on 26th April.

The push is to celebrate the inaugural Miami Grand Prix, which will take place from the 6th to the 8th of May. Psyonix is in a multi-year deal to bring Formula 1 to their platform. This is the second F1 Fan Pass that’s dropped since the agreement.

More importantly, it features the 2022 rules package. Technically, that would make Rocket League the first to have the officially licensed 2022 content in the gaming sphere. EA Sports F1 ’22 isn’t due out until July, and nothing else has been announced for any other platforms at this time.

The pack includes the car itself, the livery decals, engine audio and Pirelli-branded wheels. The contents of the pack can only be mixed with the other items included in the pack.

Also in the pack, you’ll find a second McLaren decal for the Rocket League F1 car. It’s named the McLaren Miami 2022 Decal, and features an inverted McLaren scheme with what looks to be palm trees embedded in the livery. Could this be a sneak peak at what McLaren might actually bring to the track? We’ll have to wait and see.

The cars will utilize the Dominus Hitbox, and the pack goes for 1100 credits. Credit bundles can be purchased for £3.75/$4.99 (500 credits), £7.50/$9.99 (1,100 credits), £18.75/$24.99 (3,000 credits) or £37.50/$49.99 (6,500 credits).

As a NASCAR fan, I was tempted into getting their Fan Pack last week, and it was a lot of fun taking control of the Kevin Harvick car and crashing into the other players. I wish I knew how to fly these cars through the air like the pros, to be honest. Maybe I’ll have better luck playing with a Ferrari?

Formula 1 fans, will you be getting in on Rocket League’s new Fan Pack for 2022? Let us know in the comments below!
