The KT Racing developers behind Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown have been quiet about the upcoming Season 4 update – until now.

Today, 22nd May, the first in-game non-concept images of the functioning casino system were showcased.

This feature was teased in the inaugural Solar Crown teaser trailers four years ago, and is why the accessible driving title carries an 18+ age rating.

In the slew of new images, you can see that the design has been radically changed from the original concept art – something that KT Racing deems “more realistic”.

It’s certainly lavish, with distinctive touches. When it arrives in July, not all casino-specific features will arrive immediately. Details on how it will work are to be provided closer to release. Initial trailers hinted at being able to use cars as gambling collateral.

New cars

The latest Solar Club newsletter by the game’s publisher Nacon and developer Kylotonn has two images of upcoming cars.

Based on our sleuthing, we believe they are:

  • Aston Martin DB11/12 Volante
  • Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series

The British convertible is showcased in an obscure image, which just shows its desk lid. The contouring and light indentations give the game away – this is either a DB11 or DB12 Volante. It joins several other Aston Martins in the game, including the coupe DB11. With that already available, we suspect that makes this more likely to be the 11 rather than the 12.

The AMG was much trickier. Despite the headlight clearly depicted, at first glance, it looks like the AMG GTR already in the game. But the internal structure of the light is different on the GTR Pro and Black Series models – so it has to be one of those two.

Then, just below that, the Pro has a slightly different cooling package from the Black Series, so we expect this to be the latter.

Car distribution changes

In March’s Season 3, the Aston Martin Valour was added, which, as a car rarely seen in video games, was exciting for some. Until they realised that it was only available as a Solar Court-ranked reward, which meant it didn’t unlock for the dealership until the end of the season, three months later.

With the Season 4 update, that ranked reward process is set to change by omitting cars. The prior Valour and Bugatti Chiron Supersport 300+, plus the two new cars mentioned above, will be in the dealership from the off.

HUD removal feature

A feature that some fans have requested, to provide a cleaner and more life-like experience, is the option to remove the on-screen HUD. This will now be provided in the next major game update.

Further quality of life changes are also expected, such as tweaks to the Solar Pass and event payouts. Graphical enhancements are expected in Season 5, and housing is part of the title’s ‘Year 2’ content plans.
