Ten months on from its troubled launch, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown’s next live service update, Season 4, is set to arrive this month, bringing back the long-awaited casino.
Along with introducing the casino, Season 4 will add five new cars, as well as a few returning cars from past seasons, which will be available to all players.
Returning from Test Drive Unlimited 2, the casino’s slot machine will have two jackpot prizes. KT Racing has confirmed in a Steam update that one of these will be the Mercedes-AMG GT Black, which will make its Solar Crown debut.
Players can also win 77,777 Casino Chips as a jackpot prize, with a future update allowing players to convert them into Solar Coins.
Several new vehicles will also be added to dealerships. From Season 4, players will no longer earn vehicles as ranked rewards in the Solar Pass. A convoluted system meant that players who achieved Solar Court or above had to wait three months to claim their prize car in the next sesaon. These cars would then be added to dealerships three months later, meaning that other players had to wait six months.
Season 4 will add two previous rank reward cars to dealerships: the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ (Season 2’s ranked reward) and Aston Martin Valour (Season 3’s ranked reward).
The third dealership car is new to Solar Crown: the Aston Martin DB11 Volante. A convertible version of the hardtop grand tourer, the DB11 Volante packs a 4.0-litre twin-turbo delivering 630 horsepower, enabling it to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds and onto a top speed of 187 mph.
New Solar Pass cars
Season 4 will introduce the first paid Solar Pass, with prize cars unlocking at level one, 15 and 50. However, the Solar Pass will still have a free tier, with the level 50 car being unlocked for everyone.
Reaching level one will unlock the Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe VR Widebody Kit, marking the introduction of bodykits in Solar Crown.
Joining the 911 Carrera is the DeLorean Alpha5, unlocked at level 15 in the premium tier. Those who have the VIP Solar Pass will get instant access since it skips 20 levels. Helmed by Italdesign, the DeLorean Alpha5 is an electric concept, with a 0-60 mph time of 2.99 seconds and a 155-mph top speed. Solar Crown will mark the electric concept’s first appearance in a PC and console game.
Last but not least, the Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato will unlock for all players at level 50. Powered by a naturally aspirated V10 producing 610 horsepower, the Huracan Sterrato is fitted with numerous off-road enhancements, including lifted suspension, chunky tyres and a roof rack with auxiliary lights.
As well as new cars, Season 4 will offer a “slight increase in performance” that will reduce stuttering issues on PS5 according to KT Racing.
Season 4 will launch in the second half of July, but an exact release date is yet to be confirmed. Beyond that, Season 5 is expected to bring a “major” graphics update.
