Sonic: Racing CrossWorld’s character roster will continue to expand over the next few months with free and paid DLC from Sega and other franchises.
During Sony’s Japan-focused State of Play, a new trailer revealed several free characters heading to the kart racer between December 2025 and February 2026.
In December, NiGHTS from the NiGHTS into Dreams comic series will be added as a playable character alongside the Dream Sleeper Vehicle.
Super Monkey Ball content will follow in January 2026 with AiAi as a playable character and the Banana Cruiser Vehicle. AiAi is a welcome addition, as Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds‘ roster is criticised for lacking Sega characters beyond the Sonic universe.
After that, Tangle & Whisper from IDW’s Sonic the Hedgehog comic book series will join the roster in February 2026.
Next week will also see the next paid DLC pack on 19th November, which lets you race as SpongeBob SquarePants or Patrick Star around a Bikini Bottom Themed Course. Each character has six emotes but are not voiced. Included in the Season Pass or sold separately, the DLC also includes a Patty Wagon Vehicle and new music tracks inspired by the cartoon.
For Season Pass holders, Pac-Man DLC will launch in Q1 2026, followed by Mega Man DLC in Q2 2026 and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Avatar Legends content in Q3 2026.
