Originally released in 2022 for the Nintendo Switch, Smurfs Kart (or ‘Schtroumphs’ Kart if you’re French) is expanding to different consoles later this year.
On 22nd August, Smurfs Kart is set to release on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, made by the Eden Games development studio and published by the French studio Microids. It is also slated to release on Steam at some point, but there’s no specific date set just yet.
The racing title, in which Justin Towell gave a “Consider” in his Traxion.GG Review, is akin to Mario Kart, but with less to do. “It’s got a nice feel about it, looks good, moves, well, raises a chuckle or two and provides a cheaper alternative to Mario Kart while essentially offering the same gameplay,” said Justin in his review.
For the console release, there will be the same 12 tracks, same 12 Smurfs, and same offline modes to compete… I mean ‘Smurf’ alone or together in. There will be support for up-to four players in split screen local multiplayer, but no talks of any online racing, which wasn’t a feature on the Switch either.
No price has been officially announced, but it is currently available on the Nintendo Switch for $39.99.
